Knit Nights at Aylin's
SECOND TUESDAY of every month is designated as our Hanne Falkenberg Nights. Those of you who are working on your Falkenberg kits are welcome to come join us for a social evening. Since this is not a class, but a social gathering for Falkenberg fans, it is free of charge. Then the FOURTH TUESDAY of every month we will keep the lights on for another social event; our Knit and Visit Night. Please come and spend a relaxing, fun night with us, bring your projects to show and share,visit with other stitchers, meet and make new friends. This is also free of charge. The plan is to assemble in Leesburg late in the afternoon of Friday, May 18, 2012. Check into our hotel, have a lovely dinner at one of the local restaurants followed by a gathering back at our hotel to knit, crochet and sip (wine, beer, soft drinks, water) until we drop. Next morning, sleep late, or get up early and walk, work out. After a leisurely breakfast, we will offer a tour of the Morven Park Mansion, followed by a walking tour of the historic area of Leesburg. After a late lunch, everyone will have time to explore and shop in Leesburg. In the evening, we’ll again gather for marathon knitting, crochet, and snacks at the hotel. On May 20th, Sunday morning, we can enjoy another leisurely breakfast, exercise, etc., and then we will proceed to the nearby Hillsborough Winery. With a magnificent view of the countryside, the winery offers us a tour of its operation, more knitting, and crochet plus lots of conversation in front of the fire, or on the veranda. Have a buffet lunch with samples of their wine. We’ll head home from Hillsborough whenever we are tired of talking, knitting, crocheting, and eating – probably around midafternoon. To take place in the fall of 2012 (time to be determined later).Join Aylin and friends for a fabulous tour in Turkey. We will be visiting Istanbul, a portion of the Black Sea Region, Izmir and its environs, and incredible Cappadocia. Charity Knitting & Crocheting at Aylin’s - by Claire Wudowsky
Join Knitters & Crocheters Care for charity knitting & crocheting at Aylin’s Woolgatherer on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Grab your hooks or needles, and join us as we stitch for charity – either your favorite charity or one of the featured charities listed below:
In January we will be making and collecting squares for Warm-Up America.
In February we will be joining these squares into blankets for Shelter House. (Shelter House provides emergency shelter and supportive Services to homeless families.)
In March we will be creating red/white/blue visors for the people served by TAPS. (TAPS, or Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, provides a support network for the families of those who died in military service to America.)
We will announce specific dates at a later date and hope that you’ll join us at Aylins and help us create useful items for these charities. If you cannot join us, you can still drop off your finished items at the shop, and we’ll deliver them.
